“People who experience the loss of a loved one early in life often become more familiar with grief than with love itself. Through my own story, I wanted to express that the moment we lose love can also be the moment a new love begins.”
Composer and music director Jidam, whose works include the film Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (2010), the musical Calvin Speller (2013), and the children's book Wounded Apple (2018), released her second full-length album, Help Me Out. Following a career spanning film, musical theatre, and recording projects, the album marks her first solo studio release in seven years since her debut album Song For You (2013).
Rather than explaining her personal experiences directly, Jidam allows the music itself to speak. Flowing with the quiet sincerity of a heartfelt prayer, the album suggests that music can reach places words cannot, gently touching listeners' lives and conveying emotions beyond language.
While her award-winning song "Dear SJ", recipient of the Grand Prize at the 2018 All Star Artist Festival, paid tribute to the lives of mothers, Help Me Out turns its attention to the ordinary moments we all share—love, loss, healing, and hope. Through lyrical melodies and intimate, letter-like lyrics, the album offers a deeply reflective and lasting emotional resonance.
